Reigning Olympic champion and Hyderabad Hunters captain Carolina Marin says that she is ready for the big match against Saina Nehwal when her team takes on Awadhe Warriors in the PBL crucial league match in the Chennai-leg later this week.
Speaking on the sidelines of a promotional event for her team here on Thursday, says her preparations, though not perfect, are going well.
‘”Yes, I have been training well and playing well. We hope to win the next two rounds of the PBL to achieve our first objective of making it to the semifinal. We are a very good side and hope we will be there in the knock-out in front of home crowds,” a smiling Marin said.
“Honestly, it has been a wonderful experience to be with the Hunters team for the second year in-a-row. The camaraderie is something very special. I am enjoying every moment of my stint with the team. The mood in the team is upbeat,” the former World champion said.
“Well, the competition has been really of high standard because of the presence of so many foreign players too which again I feel is pretty good for the sport itself. That way, PBL is giving the sport a huge fillip and more so to Indians.
“And, more importantly, the PBL helps the players including herself keep improving,” she said.
“There can be no better feeling than being there in the semifinal and cheered by the vociferous crowds. We hope to live upto the expectations by making it to that phase,” Marin said even as her teammate and 2017 Singapore Super Series champion B. Sai Praneeth nodded in acknowledgement.
